Myrtle Park was the destination for our February Rally, a few Chapter Members arrived on the Thursday and set up with others electing to stay at the Rest Area at the top of the Scottsdale Sidling. Those who chose the rest area commented on the wonderful evening views looking out across the undulating farming country around the township of Scottsdale and down to the seaside town of Bridport a spectacular view indeed.
Next morning fog filled the valleys as the sun cast its early rays across the countryside, a sight to behold after a restful and peaceful night. Being summer it is hard to imagine the fog shrouding, it had been caused by heat not cold which was unusual.

Myrtle Park is set alongside St Patrick's river and surrounded by mountains and general farmland, a most tranquil setting where we were to see Platypus frolicking in the water at dusk and a few lucky anglers were able to catch mountain trout for their evening meal. It is a most tranquil setting; it was a bonus being able to have our Rally alongside the river where the trickle of running water was most soothing.

There was a steady influx of members early Friday morning increasing as the day went on, as usual the fire was alight and the kettles on the boil, after setting up we all congregated around the fire and commented on the wonderful weather we were having. At last we were experiencing very warm weather though a touch humid, a most welcome change to our past winter weather Rally's.
Our yellow canopy was erected and it wasn't long before we were into happy hour wherein President Ian welcomed all.

Our happy hour was once again a joyous occasion meeting up with of our many friends, interstate visitors and welcoming first timers to our Rally; as usual we gave them a most warm welcome. The first timers present all elected to join the Chapter and soon settled into the spirit of the Rally.
Many attendees were to use the barbecue facilities and after our evening meal we gathered to enjoy the coolness of the evening and enjoy the canopy of brilliant shining stars. Our Chapter has many members who have entertaining skills and John was to entertain us with his guitar and his fine singing voice for many hours with others telling their favourite jokes. There was a strong feeling of camaraderie among the group with much laughter and singing.

Enjoying an evening meal in the cool of the evening

Saturday was to dawn another fine day, after a humid night, our walking group set off early for their walk with a few of the regulars missing due to having a happier evening than usual. The Disc Bowls were out and there was a steady use of the facilities during the day, who knows with regular training we might just be able to challenge the champions at our next Combined Chapter Rally.
A few were to play the game of Boule, there was an impromptu morning tea to discuss the Combined Chapter's Rally to be held next February hosted by the Island Wanderers Chapter. The discussion centred mainly on finding a suitable venue for the event.
Then it was relax, walk the beautiful river or just congregate around our main meeting area and pass the time away in peaceful surrounding.

Our happy hour was another excellent event with two Motorhomer's from interstate, who have joined us at our Rally's over the past five months, being accorded honorary Island Wanderers membership. President Ian presented them with Island Wanderers Stickers to remember us by, for we have enjoyed there company during the period. They were grateful of the presentation and placed the Island Wanderers sticker on their Motorhome's. After our happy hour, fires were lit with many electing to cook their meal on and by the fire, we then gathered as a group. Our hosts, Clarry and Jeane were to entertain us with quizzes and some interesting discussion on members various travells around Australia. very interesting and at times most hilarious lasting at least three plus hours. Finally Clarry and Jeane were to give us a rendition of one of their favourite songs.

Whilst some elected to head off to bed for the night others elected to participate in a late night supper by the fire toasting crumpets. The day had been full on and to end the day with all still smiling and laughing was a bonus and created a wonderful feeling of family.

Sunday dawned fine and sunny and it augured well for another wonderful day, isn't this always the case when a Rally has come to an end. Our intrepid walkers were out and about walking about four kilometres out and the same distance on their return, climbing the Targa hill certainly assisted to burn the excess calories taken on board over the past few days.
Even though a few elected to stay on for another night it was sad farewells as the Rally ended. Most leaving after having lunch and saying their final goodbye's until our next Rally. Our next Rally being at Rushy Lagoon where we join our friends the Traditional Campers to have fun at the Hoe Down held in the shearing shed.
