We gather again as a Chapter given that in February most of us attended the C.M.C.A. 24th Anniversary Rally at Quercus Park. Many of us were to venture out early in the week stopping at our favourite rest areas on the East Coast and in the Midlands area before arriving at Old Beach. There are still plenty of Motorhome's from interstate with us given that the weather is turning cooler, as we head into our winter months. We were to attract several interstate members to our Chapter Rally and they were made most welcome,.
Parked up on the green oval

Catching up with the latest
Our hosts Ross & Lyn were on hand to great us on arrival, what a nice ground with lush green grass to park up on though in a couple of areas it was a bit soft. Several heavy Motorhome's had to be parked on the hard pan alongside the hall. Soon groups were to form to take advantage of the nice warm weather and sunny conditions. Laughter could be heard around the site and why not with a back drop of Mt Wellington and the Derwent River creating such a relaxing atmosphere.

Our beloved Sheriff in full flight
During the afternoon several ladies were to participate in Line Dancing being taught by one of our members. What a wonderful purpose built hall the interior colours give off a warm glow and the sun streams in through the many windows. Before we new it happy hour had arrived and we gathered to give a formal welcome to our visitors both local and from interstate and especially to John and Carole who are first time visitors who took the opportunity to join the Chapter. Our host Ross outlined the weekend activities and then our beloved Sheriff took to the stage so to speak and indicated that he would not impose fines today for improprieties. He would place us on probation for two years and if we re-offended then he would have no other option other than to double the fine, this bought much laughter and heckling. We then retired for our evening meal and would gather later back in the nice warm hall.
Playing the game of Banana By the bar and playing eight ball
Returning to the hall we were to given the opportunity to play several games such as Dominoes, Banana and eight ball just to name a few, others were propped up against the bar and many watching the football on the big screen. In all it was a pleasant evening with everyone enjoying the games on offer before retiring to bed.

Saturday morning dawned with light fog surrounding Mt Wellington and along the shore of the Derwent River, though it wasn't long before the sun broke through and as the morning warmed and the fog was to dissipate. Plenty of sun and no breeze had us gathering around the Disc Bowls rink just relaxing and watching the various games taking place. A few elected to walk down to the waterfront and stroll along the tracks beside the river and take in the wonderful sights even down to the Bowen Bridge where east meets west. Lunch time arrived and many elected to enjoy their's outside making the most of the warm windless conditions.
Pork,Beef plus Potatoes cooking Sweets prepared. Yum!
Afternoon and the roasting spit was bought into action. Our host Ross along with Kevin and Peter started preparing the Pork, Beef and potatoes for roasting for our meal tonight and to say that a couple of stubbies of beer helped in the preparation would be an understatement. Soon the excellent smell of the cooking was to waft out over the ground and many were to comment how lovely it smelt. The end result was that everything was cooked to perfection.
Busy in the kitchen
Marg & Ev preparing food

In the kitchen area Lyn and the other ladies were hard at it preparing the many sweets that would accompany the main meal this evening. Margaret was preparing her famous golden syrup dumplings which would be served with ice cream with Evelyn assisting. There was no doubt that the meal planned for tonight would great.be successful
Happy hour was to arrive and again President Jim welcomed interstate visitors which included the chairman of board of the club Diana and Peter. Peter and Shirley from the Overlanders joined us along with Ted from the Blue Gum Rovers who joined us for the day. They were all presented with a certificate to commemorate their visit to our Chapter. As usual the Birthdays of members took place and ended with a hearty rendition of Happy Birthday and then the Anniversary's bought forth much acclamation.
Then it was time for the Sheriff to address and as usual he had us laughing at the manner he imposed fines of twenty cents which is a donation towards the many charities the Chapter supports. Even though many attempted to defend themselves against the fines all they achieved was to have their fines doubled. There is no doubt that the Sheriff David lends to the atmosphere of the rally fining those errant members who may forget to wear their name tags or smut or anything else that he Sheriff finds appropriate.

Bob & Doug in action
The ladies were to set the tables for our evening meal and table by table we gathered by the servery and were given copious amounts of Beef and Pork and beautiful baked potatoes. We were to supply our side salads and then we settled in to enjoy our meal and there were even seconds if required. There were few takers and then it was time for sweets and of course Margaret's Golden Syrup Dumplings with ice cream was the most popular sweet and the other sweets were excellent and a large selection at that.
After our meal Bob and Doug were to supply their music and of course it was up to the usual high standard, many were to dance along and laughter could be heard throughout the evening. Then time for bed another good Rally enjoyed by all.
Sunday arrived and another sunny morning with the surrounding scenery looking excellent in the early morning sun, a few were to head off for their morning walk and the rest of us gathered around chatting away prior to us departing for home or other destinations.
It has been an excellent Rally with our hosts Ross and Lyn giving their all to ensure we had a memorable Rally. We thank you for such a wonderful location and the effort that you both put in to ensure our comfort and well being. Our next Rally is to held at the Lebrina Hall in Northern Tasmania.
